IAQ is perhaps the largest public health problem in the United States workforce. As buildings age, problems occur undetected or detected resulting in an environmental airborne hazard. On average we spend over 90% of our time indoors. We are often exposed to fungal, biological, and chemical elements which can affect our health. TEK can
provide the necessary testing and sampling services to determine and pinpoint exact contaminants.
Sampling and monitoring for these elements that affect your Indoor Air Quality is extremely beneficial for you health and peace of mind. If a hazard is detected, TEK offers corrective solutions to immediately improve the environment.
– Comprehensive Investigative Procedures to determine contaminants
– Evaluation of Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Systems (HVAC)
– Electronic Documentation
– HVAC Air Flow Control Balancing
– Comprehensive Environmental Exposure Assessments.
– Turnkey Environmental Remediation / Removal Services
– Interim Control Methods and Procedures
Mold spore colonies and mold problems are primarily associated with water intrusion issues. Water leaks, ice dams, pipe breaks, flooding, etc. play a major role in the formation and spreading of mold spores. Mold targets areas such as HVAC systems, associated ductwork, inner wall cavities, drywall components, ceilings, insulation materials, and
many others.
Samples must be collected to determine the exact mold spore concentration and types of mold spores in the affected area or areas. Immediate action can be taken as a precaution until the samples are analyzed. Not all mold is visible, if you are feeling a mold-related allergy or suspect a mold problem, contact TEK or a mold specialist for an
evaluation.
– Initial Mold and Indoor Air Quality Inspection
– Conduct Initial Mold Baseline Levels
– Develop Mold Abatement Scope of Work
– Provide Initial Mold Surface / Swab Sampling
– Collect Cultural Air Samples to Identify Specific Mold Types
– Viable / Non-viable Mold Spore for Initial and Post Remediation Air Sampling
– Provide direction and Initiation of Mold Remedial Activities
Investigations to Determine Mold Sources: (faulty construction, pipe break, water infiltration, etc.- Often located in crawl spaces, above ceilings, and behind walls)
Attic problems (click here to view an example) are generally associated with Ice-Dams (click here to view an example) and commonly associated with a lack of ventilation creating cold surface condensation to develop.
Furthermore, inadequate insulation may also play a major role in contributing to mold growth from the development of condensation on the underside of the roof sheathing surface.
Upon detection of mold growth: Corrective solutions and qualified contractors are available to increase response time.
TEK employs certified Lead Inspectors / Risk Accessors who can determine lead-based paint hazards utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. We primarily use the X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzer (XRF), which can detect lead elements embedded in many surfaces. A Risk Assessment can determine if any lead-based paint hazards exist in your home or building.
Lead mostly impacts many children under the age of 6. They are often exposed to lead-based paint chips or dust. These areas are often a result from windows, doors, and other areas with damaged paint. Any child in a daycare facility, school, or any building with damaged lead-based paints can suffer from the following ailments.
– Flu-like symptoms
– Slow Academic Development
– Neurological Impairment
Lead-based paint hazards can often be transported from a job-site to your home in clothing, hair, or other porous surfaces to your family and friends. Welding, grinding, or cutting activities with lead-based paints can result in exposure to lead.
– Lead-based Paint Inspections and Risk Assessments
– HUD Certified State-of-the-Art Instrumentation
– Lead Air Quality Studies
– Program Management
